TUCKAHOE SCHOOL FOUNDATION

GRANT PROGRAM

WHO CAN APPLY

Any Teacher, Administrator, or Support Staff Team Member are eligible. In addition, Student/Teacher and Parent/Teacher Partnerships are encouraged to apply.

GRANT AWARDS

Earn up to $2500 Per Grant by submitting an application for the funding of meaningful projects designed to educate and/or improve the student/staff experience. 

BENEFITS

Strengthen student learning and the district’s curriculum and enhance teaching strategies that foster creativity and encourage differentiated learning.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Teachers, please send us your ideas for grants! Tuckahoe School Foundation wants to hear your ideas and inspirations. 

All grant proposals must be approved by the building Principal and Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent prior to submission. One signed paper copy is required along with an electronic submission.

 

The proposed project must be completed within the 2020/2021 school year.

 

If the grant request requires early consideration that should be clearly detailed in the application and a message should be included with the electronic submission.

BISON 6-IN-1 ADJUSTABLE EASY-UP YOUTH GOALS
Funding provided to purchase three adjustable basketball goals for use at the Cottle School.

LEAPING LEMUR CONSERVATION ON THE EDGE
Funding provided for a new World Conservation Society/Bronx Zoo distance learning expedition. Students are “taken into” the Madagascar exhibit to explore two unique animal habitats and two endangered animal lemur species.

HANDHELD DIGITAL MICROSCOPE/CAMERA
Funding provided to purchase a handheld digital microscope/camera for use in the TMS earth and life science classes.

VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE
Funding provided to purchase Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 - Education Edition - video editing software for use at TMS and THS.

SUBSCRIPTION TO QUIA
Funding provided to purchase a subscription to Quia, an internet site that will provide TMS and THS students with a variety of activities to review and study Spanish, French and Italian.

EBOOK STARTER COLLECTION
Funding provided to purchase two Nook color e-readers along with several publications.

SENTEO SMART CLICKERS
Funding provided to purchase handheld devices for use with the Smart Boards that allow students to respond to questions asked verbally, on paper, or on screen.

SMART BOARDS
Continued funding provided for 8 Smart Boards purchased by TSF in 2008 that are used in Cottle classrooms. Along with the Generoso Pope Foundation, continued funding is also provided for an additional 46 Smart Boards purchased in 2009 that are used in classrooms throughout the district.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT
An end-of-year program of science, music, and activities for Cottle families and the community.

SCIENCE FAIR
Funding provided to support a Science Fair at the Cottle School in the Spring of 2013. The Science Fair stimulates interest, curiosity and desire to explore the mysteries of the world and provide a forum to learn, understand, and apply the scientific method.

ITALIAN LANGUAGE PROGRAM
Funding provided for an Italian language program that aims to provide Cottle students with a basis for learning to communicate effectively in contemporary spoken and written Italian.

SPANISH LANGUAGE PROGRAM
Funding provided for a Spanish language program that aims to provide Cottle students with a basis for learning to communicate effectively in contemporary spoken and written Spanish.

LIFE SKILLS 103
Funding provided for the THS LIFE Skills program. Students will be provided the opportunity to prepare a variety of meals and engage in laundering exercises.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT
An end-of-year program of science, music, and activities for Cottle families and the community. Participating students and community members were dazzled by Jabali Acrobats, comedy and magic by Jim McClenahan, and the Central Park Zoo Theater Group just to name a few.

SCIENCE FAIR
Funding provided to support a Science Fair at the Cottle School in the Spring of 2012. The Science Fair will stimulate interest, curiosity, and desire to explore the mysteries of the world and provide a forum to learn, understand, and apply the scientific method.

COURTYARD GARDEN
Funding provided to develop and maintain a garden in the TMS/THS Courtyard.

LIFE SKILLS 102
Funding provided for the THS LIFE Skills program. Students will be provided the opportunity to prepare mini-meals and engage in a variety of laundering exercises.

LISTENING STATIONS
Funding provided to purchase four iPods to be used as listening stations for the 4th Grade ESL program. The iPods will replace two CD players (and many CDs) enabling more students to participate simultaneously at the listening station, and also enabling more books to be stored.

MICE FOR LITTLE HANDS
Funding provided to purchase computer mice designed for smaller hands to be used in the computer lab at Cottle.

SMART SLATES
Funding provided to purchase SMART Slates for use by the English and Social Studies Departments in TMS/THS. SMART Slates enable students to wirelessly interact with digital content on the SMART Board from anywhere in the classroom.

WORDS FOR LIFE
Funding provided to create a mosaic/public art piece that graphically inspires all those entering the Cottle School.
